Tue, 21 May 2024

With the UK already promoted they just had to turn up and avoid a match point penalty. Unfortunately Scott Cobbold tried to arrange his game against Victor Chow on the Sunday before, but failed to make the game and the team occurred a two board point penalty. The others did show up with a win for Des Cann and close losses for Jon Diamond and Alison Bexfield, allowing second placed South Africa a three-one win to finish just one match point behind the UK and earn the play-off place.

45 Players at Lancaster Go Tournament Despite Train Strikes

Lancaster
Sat, 3 Feb 2024

The second Lancaster Go Tournament was held on Saturday 3rd February, once again in Lancaster University’s maze-like Management School building. Despite the great travel difficulties caused by train strikes, the tournament still managed to host 45 players, only just shy of 49 the previous year. It was wonderful to see ranks from 4d to 37k represented and to welcome so many young faces, many coming from Cheadle Hulme School (CHS).
