Wessex Tournament Returns to Bath
— Tony AtkinsThe Wessex Tournament returned to its usual venue, St Mark's Community Centre in Bath, and its usual one day format, on the day the clocks go back. Eleven of the 25 players were from Bristol Go Club, with the Bath Go Club players making it over half local participation.
Winning all games to add Wessex to his British Open title was Yaoling Yang (5d Bristol). The only other player winning all their games was Alison Bexfield (1d Letchworth), who started below the bar. Results

UK Lost to Sweden in Season Debut
— Tony AtkinsThe UK lost their first match, against Sweden, in the new season of the B-League in the Pandanet Go European Team Championship, one game to three. This left the team
eighth out of ten in the table.

British Go Congress Launches Restart of Face-to-Face Tournaments
— Tony AtkinsThis year’s British Go Congress, comprising the British Open and the British Lightning Championship, was held at the Novotel Leicester between the 1st and 3rd of October. This was the first face to face tournament the BGA has organised since Covid, and, despite being delayed and short notice, just over 30 players enjoyed a weekend of games.

Student discount for BGA Congress
— Colin WilliamsFollowing a recent question the BGA have decided to offer a 33% discount on tournament fees for students entering the Congress this year. Youth entrants still receive the 50% discount.

European Women's Go Championship Ends With Tie-Break
— Tony AtkinsThe London Go Centre, with help from the British Go Association (including Matt Marsh as Tournament Director), ran the 2021 edition of the European Women's Go Championship. Unfortunately was is not held in London at the Go Centre (as originally planned for 2020), but was played online on OGS. The online games attracted audiences of up to 80 and Diana Koszegi (2p) analysed some on Twitch (will be uploaded later on the LGC YouTube channel). During the final round she commented with Benjamin Drean-Guenaizia (6d) live on three games, the top two boards and Julia Volovich's game.

European Women's Go Championship 2021 Now On
— Tony AtkinsThe London Go Centre, with help from the British Go Association, is currently running the 2021 edition of the European Women's Go Championship. Unfortunately it is not in London, but is being played online on OGS.

Thirty players took part in the first round. Of the 13 above the 1d bar, the winners were from Russia, France and Germany.
